Figma Adds Google Drive and Internal Weave Tool Sharing

Design UX News
Figma now allows its AI agent and Make tool to pull live context from Google Drive for design tasks.
What: Figma integrated a Google Drive connector allowing users to pull research and data into design conversations. Additionally, Enterprise and Organization plans can now publish internal Weave tools to a shared team tab.
Why it matters: This shift embeds design tools directly into the existing research workflows of organizations, treating design software as a collaborative data hub rather than a standalone canvas.
Takeaway: If your team uses Figma, check the new Google Drive connector in your workspace settings to start referencing internal research documents during AI-assisted design sessions.

Original article

Figma announced two workflow updates on October 30: a Google Drive connector for the Figma agent and Make, and internal publishing for Weave tools.

Use existing files as design context

The Drive connector can bring research, data and images into a design conversation and create new Drive files. Connectors are now available on every Figma plan, including Starter, although Google Drive is not available with the Governance+ add-on.

According to Figma’s documentation, each person authenticates their connection. Tools that write to external services are disabled by default and must be enabled separately. Source changes require another connector request to refresh the context.

Share Weave tools within a team

Organization and Enterprise users can publish Weave tools internally. They appear in the Tools tab alongside Figma’s own and Community tools. This gives teams a shared place to access their custom tools.
