Michelangelus is a new serif typeface inspired by Michelangelo's handwritten manuscripts, architectural work, and carved inscriptions, created by Studiogusto for the 400th anniversary of the consecration of St. Peter's Basilica. Rather than reproducing his handwriting literally, the designers studied its rhythm, spacing, proportions, distinctive forms, and hidden structural order, even spending a week refining the lowercase ā€œgā€ derived from his signature. The resulting family contains more than 2,000 glyphs across regular, italic, bold, and bold italic styles and will become available across Microsoft 365 later this year.
