Generative AI lowers production costs, but founders must avoid mistaking the ability to generate assets for the expertise to refine a product.
What: The article warns that solo founders using AI to replace specialists may struggle with user-centric decisions, interaction strategy, and trust, as these require deep expertise that LLMs cannot evaluate.
Why it matters: This highlights the 'commodity trap' where software production costs approach zero, shifting the competitive advantage back to human judgment and product strategy.

AI has dramatically lowered the cost of producing software, allowing solo founders to handle work that previously required designers, engineers, and other specialists, but easier production does not automatically provide the expertise required to judge whether the result is good.
